Regular dental visits are important for many reasons including; keeping your teeth and gums healthy and the possibility of one’s dental condition affecting ones overall health.  Also, regular visits to the office can help detect problems early on when treatment is likely simpler and more affordable. Listed below are just some of the procedures and services we provide to our patients.

  • Adult and Child Prophy

Cleaning of all teeth surfaces to remove plaque and calculus (tarter) build up. Also, polishing of the teeth is completed. A cleaning is recommended every 6 months.

  • Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays can help detect tooth decay in between teeth, abscesses and developmental abnormalities. A full mouth series is recommended for all new patients and bitewings taken once a year at cleaning appointments.

  • Fluoride

We recommend a professional application of fluoride treatment especially to children to help prevent tooth decay.

  • Periodic oral exam

Regular checkups include an oral cancer screening, gum disease evaluation, examination of existing restorations and tooth decay.

  • Scaling and Root Planing/Periodontal Maintenance

More aggressive cleaning of root surfaces used to treat individuals with periodontal disease. Patient will remain on periodontal maintenance to see how pockets have healed.

  • Sealants

A material placed in the groves of permanent molars to allow an easy to clean surface since majority of dental decay starts in the groves of teeth.

  • Bridges

Used as a fixed option to replace a missing tooth. A bridge consists of reshaping the abutment teeth to place a crown over, which connects to the pontic (artificial tooth).

  • Composite Restorations

A tooth colored filling that is directly bonded to tooth structure after all decay is removed.

  • Crowns

Teeth with large fillings, broken down teeth, or teeth that had root canal therapy will benefit from a restoration that covers the entire tooth surface to increase strength. Also, we can fabricate a crown that attaches to a dental implant as well.

  • Root Canal Therapy

When a tooth is injured, has a large amount of decay present – a root canal could be needed to save the tooth. A root canal consists of the removal of the nerve and pulp, cleaning and shaping of the canals in order to place a filling material to seal the canals. After this step is completed a permanent filling (crown) is recommended.

Cosmetic Dentistry

  • Cosmetic Dentistry

Whitening of the tooth enamel to brighten your smile. Our office offers both in office and take home options.

Porcelain veneers can be an option to correct chipped teeth or fix gaps. The tooth is lightly prepped and a thin material (porcelain) covers the front of the tooth.

  • General Anesthesia

If in office sedation is not an option for you and a large amount of dental work is needed, general anesthesia can be completed to have all dental work completed at one time. Dr. Chapman completes hospital cases at OVMC a few Fridays a month.

  • In office sedation

Minimal sedation can be used to eliminate ones dental anxiety and apprehension one feels when attending the dentist. We use nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to decrease anxiety and used as a mild sedative with very little side effects. Also oral conscious sedation such as; Valium, Halcion and Versed can be given prior to appointment to evoke mild sedation.
